Clinic Regulations Review

A look at some of the comments reveals this is clearly an emotional and political issue for many people. However, the formulation of regulations needs to set aside those 2 perspectives and be developed in a way that creates an environment that protects the citizens of this commonwealth. Do the current regulations create a safer environment? Are they inclusive of all facilities performing similar procedures or have they been narrowly written to target specific facilities performing a specific procedure. If the true intent is to protect patients from harm during outpatient procedures, then formulate regulations that target facitilities performing outpatient colonoscopies, dental procedures, really any facility performing procedures under sedation. In the end I don't think that is the intent of the regulations but rather they were politically driven to impede access to a politically contentious medical procedure. I urge the board to review these regulations from a patient safety point of view and I believe you will find many are arbitrary and unnecessary.
