Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

I am not in favor of abortion, no matter the cause of pregnancy. With that being said the reality is, unfortunately, that abortions are going to take place in our Commonwealth. So, the least that you can do is to ensure that these clinics and hospitals are clean, sterile and properly equipped and staffed so to provide patient-centered care. The health and future well being of the women are at stake and from the sounds of it, these clinics dont have this as their number one priority. Groups such as NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia and Planned Parenthood could help, and should help, finance the needed updates and ensure the clinics are meeting standards. It seems ironic to me that they are so obsessed with the womans right to choose and yet not equally obsessed with the health and wellbeing of the woman who is doing the choosing. It seems they care more about the right to choose than the person. Furthermore, nursing homes and clinics cant be staffed with people who arent properly trained nor can they get away with gross violations in basic care so why should an abortion clinic be any different" Again, I ask that you please put the health of the woman first.I truly hope you will remember and recall the reason that you got into this position, and this industry, in the first place. My guess and assumption is that it was because you wanted to make a difference in protecting and providing for the health and well being of the residents of our great state of Virginia. Well now the residents of our great state are asking you to do the right thing!Thank you for your time! Seth McCormick
