Commenter: Paul Huddle, Volunteer EMS worker

I support Fire and EMS personel being able to defend themselves

I am a volunteer member of the local rescue squad and as a member I am put in positions that most normal citizens will not face from running calls for service for someone having difficulty breathing to helping people with mental issues to trying to save someone from a life and death situation. This calls can be highly dangerous for everyone involved especially when there may be other family members or people under the influence of some type of illegal substance. I believe that as a human I have the right to defend myself against an lethal attack and to deny me a tool to do that with may very well be a death sentence for me.

When I am not on duty I am allowed to carry a firearm and have the proper tools to protect myself should the need ever arise and the fact that I am not allowed to have the proper tools when I am potentially putting myself in harms way to help other people because of a government regulation is utterly ridiculous.
