Re: 8 VAC 20-81-90 -- Don't Change Parental Consent Provisions -- Keep As Is in Current Regs

Re: 8 VAC 20-81-90  -- I OPPOSE ALL THE PROPOSED CHANGES TO PARENTAL CONSENT PROVISIONS – includes as parental consent applies to Termination of Services and Services for Transfer Students. KEEP parental consent as a provision for assessments, evaluations, placement, and services as it is in the currently used regs.

Without inclusion of parents in THE PROCESS there is NO PROGRESS.

Parents are their child's experts and their #1 advocate.  Special Education plans, based on and supported by assessments and evals, are binding contractual agreements made between parties -- School District and Parents.  Parents and Schools must both consent to the agreement for services -- not just the SD (and not the parents/guardian of child!!).
