Mandate 635

Mandate Information
Mandate Title:
Clerkships for post-graduate training in medicine
Purpose of legislation
Requires applicants for licensure to practice medicine, osteopathy, or podiatry to receive at least 12 months of the required supervised clinical training in one program or institution approved by an accrediting agency recognized by the Board of Medicine (the Board) and allows supervised clinical training that is received in the United States as part of the curriculum of an international medical school to fulfill the requirements for licensure by the Board if the clinical training is in a program acceptable to the Board and deemed a substantially equivalent experience. The bill removes the Board's authority to grant a temporary license to practice chiropractic to interns and residents and repeals certain other requirements for licensure for students who studied in international medical schools.
