VOTE NO ON PART II OF THE PROPOSED VIRGINIA STORMWATER REGULATIONS

My name is Mike Cooper and as a citizen of the Commonwealth, I am concerned that the technical mandates in the proposed stormwater regulations have not been well conceived with adequate input from technical experts and those most affected.

While everyone supports cleaning up the Bay and protecting our groundwater, we do not need poorly conceived regulations which encourage suburban sprawl and discourage high quality, sustainable development.  The "one size fits all" approach is too simplistic, particularly in densely populated areas such as Northern VA.

When you vote on these regulations, we encourage you to vote no on Part II, which contains the proposed new technical standards, and reconvene the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to continue work on these requirements and consider alternative regulatory arrangements. By using input from the building industry  a more reasoned approach can yield a better result for all.

Thank you.
M. Cooper
