As a Registered Nurse, I urge the Virginia Board of Health to continue to implement and regulate Abortion Center Safety Standards and Inspections for the safety of the women using these centers. I know that without these regulations safe practices will slide and women will be vulnerable to infection, unsafe surgical procedures and risks, and unsafe post-surgical monitoring. As someone who regretfully had a surgical abortion at a Maryland Planned Parenthood 15 years ago, I know firsthand what happens when these centers aren’t regulated (I was left alone afterwards in the recovery room with no vitals checked and I almost passed out and nearly hit the floor when using the restroom alone). While I now know the danger presented to the unborn by abortion, at the bare minimum women deserve these centers to continue to be regulated. Thank you.
