Infection Control standards: crucial for ALL medical clinics.

As a BSN, RN, whose specialty has been maternity nursing for many years, I recognize fully the very real danger of sepsis and injury whenever the womb is opened, especially in situations other than during normal childbirth.  Therefore, I respectfully petition the Board of Health to think of the patient's welfare.  The welfare of the patient!

Our Virginia Board of Health's regulations, currently in effect, mandate that all medical clinics in the Commonwealth -- including those of abortion providers -- adhere to scrupulous practices of hygiene and safety.  Requiring these basic standards of care saves lives!  Again, please consider the patient.  What if she were your beloved daughter?!

Dear Board of Health members, please allow these commonsense regulations to stand!  I have petitioned you regarding this crucial matter several times in the past, and I will do so again and again, and write also in the public forum if necessary, until folks can finally wake up and realize what is at stake here -- to preserve the life and body of the woman seeking abortion.

She is already in a very hard place.  How can we be so callous as to put her at further risk of pain, trauma and even death?  The negligent practice of any abortion clinics, who choose to play fast and loose with the most basic standards of care, makes them no kinder or safer for their clients than was the infamous "back-alley abortionist".

Please, let us lean conscientiously on the side of safety!

Sincerely,

Patricia Froehlich
