Oppose Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative on Fuel Sources

  • We, Northern Neck Lumber Co., Inc., ask that the DEQ oppose the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiatve on Fuel Sources such as biomass the way the wording is written.  The use of Biomass is a win win situation for all involved because it is not only carbon neutral, it helps generate energy for many sawmills who use sawdust to fire their boilers.  These facts are vital to our industry, where sawmills tend to be in rural areas, thus using a natural sustainable resource for energy.  We also note that the rule should also be limited to electric utilities and exclude industrial boilers who use biomass.
  • With due respect,
  • John D. Morris, President
  • R. Kennon Morris, Vice President
