I support Dry Needling as both a provider and patient

I am in full support of Physical Therapists providing dry needling to clients.  They possess the necessary knowlege of anatomy, physiology, combined with clinical expertise to perform trigger point dry needling safely and effectively.  Physical Therapists are highly educated healtcare professionals with detailed knowledge of the muscloskeletal and neurological systems.  Dry needling is one of many effective modalities to treat these systems; and a very effective one at that.  Trigger point dry needling is distinctly different from accupuncture inboth goals and methodology.  While the needle may be the same, the technique and reasoning is specific to myotendinous tissue.  I have safely delivered TDN and received it in response to injuries and fine it safe and effective.  The regulations proposed by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy are sufficient to ensure public safety and should be fully enacted.
