The American Medical Association's new policy say equivalent training necessary for dry needling.

"The AMA adopted a policy that said physical therapists and other non-physicians practicing dry needling should – at a minimum – have standards that are similar to the ones for training, certification and continuing education that exist for acupuncture."  - https://www.ama-assn.org/ama-adopts-new-policies-final-day-annual-meeting

As an acupuncturist I am appalled by the idea that a PT, whose core education does not involve the use of needles, (I say this after examining Belmont and Vanderbilt PT program curriculum) would be granted the ability to insert a needle, an acupuncture needle at that, into someone's body with less time of study then a hairstylist or countless other professions.

In addition, we as a society should not recreate terms or names of things in order to bypass laws. Dry Needling is acupuncture.  If I described each of these to random people on the street, they would say it is acupuncture.  I know, I have done it.  Please email me if you would like the video.
