Dry needling is unsafe, as evidenced by an acupuncture patient I treat. He as encouraged by his physical therapist to try dry needling. Due to unsafe needling practices the PT caused localized inflammation of the muscles of the hamstring and caused months of sciatic nerve pain. These issues were the direct result of dry needling. Physical therapists jeopardize the health and safety of patients and destroy the reputation of trained and licensed acupuncturists.
