The assumption the TDN and Acupuncture are the same, is completely false

I have never discredited acupuncture. In fact, many of my patients also seek acupuncture from licensed acupuncturists. I support any method that helps my patient achieve optimum function and minimal pain. I do, however, take issue with the assumption that trigger point dry needling is synonomous with acupuncture. The theory behind each technique varies greatly, and therefore the training will vary significantly. Included in our training, for obvious reasons, is the safety of the technique. As any licensed healthcare professional, our intention is not to harm our patient, but to help them. At my clinic, we have seen great success with trigger point dry needling. It is not a technique we force on any of our patients. It is simply another tool we are trained to use, and use it as we see necessary, with the physician's consent.

Please understand we are not looking to take away from acupuncturists, we simply use acupuncture needles to perform our manual therapy technique to help our patients as we see fit.
