PT should not practice dry needling if not getting equivalent education as an acupuncturist

It is dangerous and can be ineffective if a PT performs dry needling on a patient. The needle can puncture through the chest, brain stem, and abdominal wall if done by a under trained PT. Dry needling is a form of acupuncture. Acupuncture is a complete medical system, like western medicine. It takes at least two years to get the degree for a healthcare professional who has western medicine background. Physical therapists perform dry needling by takeing couple weekend seminars only. It poses risk to patients.
