The major issue here is the safety of our patients. Acupuncturists spend years training on how to properly insert needles and give our patients the best care we can. These weekend courses are insufficient training in practicing what is without a doubt a form of acupuncture. This lack of training is misleading to their patients who believe they are going to a properly educated individual in this area. If this is allowed it sets a tone for not just them, but for other professions to reach outside of their own scopes of practice. This is not only bad for patients, but our healthcare system as well.
