Commenter: Walter Neal Simms, Jr., Danville-Pittsylvania Community Services Board

Proposed Crisis Intervention and/or MHSB changes

As am Emergency Services Clinician, often times I am overwhelmed regarding the amount of bureaucratic paperwork is required of me to simply get someone the help they need in their time of crisis.  Uncertain of what the mean average wait time is for an Individual who needs placement, I think I can say it exceeds four to five hours, and even longer at times.  During this wait time for the Individual, the face to face time actually devoted to the Individual in crisis is limited due to the bureaucratic chase that has to be made to find an appropriate bed for the Individual.  The Community Service Board is in need of policies/procedures that will stream line the process of helping our Individuals when they are most vulnerable instead of placing more unnecessary paperwork upon the Clinician.  How can the Community Service Board fulfill the Person-Centered Recovery approach if its main focus is increased paperwork?
