Dry needle is an improper terminology. You can call it medical acupuncture but not dry needle.

Medical acupuncture is practiced based on the biomedical system while traditional acupuncture is practiced based on the TCM theory. TA is time tested and evidence-based. It can assure the safety and effectiveness for the public. MA is derived from TA but not following its theory basis, and also it is still new to the medical world. Strict scientific research needs to be done on its safety and scope of clinical application before its wide spread. This is the consideration for the public and the esteem of medical science.
