Acupuncture can be dangerous if the practitioner does not understand the full scope of the discipline. It is essentially the same as allowing a Beautician to use laser on patients' face just with a few hours of training; allowing a skin care therapist to use scalpels for surgical removal of skin imperfections; and allowing physical therapists to perform chiropractor procedures.

The procedure has to be performed by an individual who is licensed by the NCCAOM.

Allowing practitioners with minimal training will lead to procedures not being as effective or worst case scenario, lead to dangerous outcomes.
