When one thinks of the heros of today and centuries gone by, and the sacrifices they made to procure and preserve our constitutional rights, it should cause the heart of any lover of liberty to break at the very thought of surrendering, or acquiesing to the taking of, even a sliver of one of them.    When it comes to liberty, there is no such thing as a minor infringement.   To paraphrase Jefferson; "the sudden taking of our rights is not nearly as likely as the quiet and gradual taking of them"   This proposal is an example of how liberty is lost, little by little.   I can think of no legitimate reason for adding executive buildings to the list of gun free zones.   I cannot think of a single incidence of an armed citizen shooting up an executive building.   On the other hand, I can think of an almost infinite number of reasons why the list of locations where law abiding citizens can lawfully carry should be expanded.   I don't believe it is a coincidence that localities, towns, cities, and countries with the most relaxed gun laws have the lowest crime rates, and vice versa.   The above notwithstanding, even if it could be shown that such a rule would improve safety, I would still oppose it on the advise of one of our brilliant founders who pointed out that "those who would trade liberty for safety will end up with neither."

I would also ask that the comment period be extended.   We need to be certain every lover of freedom gets a chance to weigh in.
