Implementing the proposed rules would put more Virginians int mortal danger, not protect anyone.

The proposed regulations cannot add to the protection of Virginians; in fact, they can only increase the risk to all Virginians. Further, the attempt to impose such regulations without explicit legal basis are an affront to the legislative process, and could be interpreted as violating the Virginia Constitution. The past several decades have clearly demonstrated that gun-free zones do not reduce firearm violence; rather they attract it. Every major mass shooting in recent memory occurred in “gun-free” zones. The proposed rules are an insult to law-abiding citizens, forcing them to forego active, immediate protection, while inviting criminals, who by definition will not comply, to attack state facilities. The regulations should be abandoned immediately, and not resurrected in any form.
