I wanted to voice my opposition to the ban on the otherwise legal carry of firearms on state property in Virginia. Such a ban creates an area where criminal elements can be assured their victims are unarmed, possibly including people such as myself who are police officers not employed by the Commonwealth and fall under LEOSA which merely grants us carry in accordance with state laws by us having to follow restrictions that apply to CCW holders. Additionally the police typically are notified of a crime too late to intervene. Increased security of these areas to ensure the safety of those visiting is bound to be costly.
