The justification for dry needling by physical therapists or chiropractors is based on the false assumption that acupuncture is not a science but merely a product of placebo effect. If acupuncture was not effective at all, then why would other untrained healthcare professionals consider using it for their own practices? Acupuncture is not merely placebo. It is a science that goes beyond the comprehension of the today's medical sciences. Dry needling by professionals of the similar occupations is not justifiable. It is immoral as well as illegal. Is it acceptible for the American public if acupuncturists practice physical therapy without having proper training? The great state of Virginia should deny the use of dry needling by physical therapists once and for all.
