Voting rights are for CITIZENS

It is absolutely incomprehensible that the SBE wants to hand over the ability to vote to non-citizens and convicted felons. I see a Board that goes out of it's way to disenfranchise our military, but wishes to allow illegal aliens and felons to vote, thereby disenfranchsing other Virginians. It is common knowledge that these non-citizens and felons overwhelming support Democrats, therefore it is not shocking that this move would be rallied by a Democrat Governor. We see what you are doing and we are not amused.

Beyond striking the requirements for proof of citizenship in items B-8, B-10, and allowing felons in item B-11, I am more shocked at item E that states persons identified as noncitizens in reports from the DMV or other sources can affirm their citizenship status using any approved voter registration application or other form containing the required affirmation. Refer back to B-8 and B-10,the sections that remove that affirmation. Why not simplify the code to say, all voters welcome, no proof of anything required? That is not a suggestion, but it is what the SBE has proposed in this action.

Regarding restoring voting rights of felons, I think too many people have forgotten that one of the reasons that voting rights were removed was as a deterrent to crime. Of course, that is when good citizens actually cared about their government as something more than a broken vending machine that spits out goodies while requiring no money to pay for those goodies.Felons should not have the right to vote. They made the decision to abdicate that right the moment that they committed their crime.

Further, item G basically states that the Department of Elections can do what they wish on a case-by-case basis. Item G needs to be removed in its entirety and replaced that any such changes require a vote by the citizens of Virginia.

In summary, this proposed regulatory action is bad for Virginia and even worse for her citizens. It is imperative that those who vote can prove, PRIOR TO RECEIVING A VOTER ID CARD, that they are indeed citizens of the United States and LEGAL residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
