College apps., job apps, and housing contracts require proof of citizenship/any felony convictions.

Most college applications, job applications and housing contracts ask about felonies/citizenship.  Why should it be any different when voting? If having a felony record or being an illegal citizen discourages or disenfranchises me from college, housing or a job, then under Virginia’s Constitution/Code why should it be any different when it comes to voting? Vote NO to the proposed change, adhere to Virginia’s Constitution and the rules already in place and protect the integrity of the election process.

A criminal record can affect you when you are searching for housing, employment and even a degree program. While a conviction can make it more difficult to get through school financially, it is possible to find an institution that is willing to give you a chance. Make sure that you are honest on your application, and work with the admissions counselors when documents are requested so that you can be granted college acceptance with a criminal record. http://www.bestvalueschools.com/faq/can-i-go-to-college-if-i-have-a-criminal-record/

For example, many four-year state colleges in Virginia (following a 2003 recommendation by the state attorney general) require applicants to submit proof of citizenship or legal residency and refuse admission to students without documentation. This policy is not, however, a state law. In many other states, public institutions accept undocumented students but treat them as foreign students; they are therefore ineligible for state aid and the lower tuition charged to state residents. https://professionals.collegeboard.com/guidance/financial-aid/undocumented-students
