Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

As a woman and mother, I want abortion center regulations left in place. If I or one of my daughters wants to use the services of an abortion center, I would certainly want to know the facility had been inspected for cleanliness and proper storage of medicines, as well good training for the staff. We inspect restaurants. Why would we not inspect these health facilities" These centers serve primarily women, so not inspecting them to ensure they are clean and safe seems like it would be a really big act of ‘war on women’. And there are instances when emergency help is needed. Of course the doorways need to be large enough to get emergency equipment in. Please do not insult women by lowering the abortion center standards. The need for these regulations is very evident in the inspection reports that have been done which found multiple violations (over 300), from unsterilized equipment to untrained staff. Besides keeping the current regulations, I think there should be added a requirement for reporting all deaths and injuries that occur in abortion clinics, with a database of such injuries available to the public. Please do not make changes to these regulations that would take Virginia backwards in its care for women. Thank you. Carol Sweger, Port Republic, VA
