Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

For all those who claim to place the highest value on human life and the care of patients- in this case, specifically women....
I say that the current standards and regulations that are in place regarding abortions and the centers that perform them, need to be maintained; that is unless the plan is to make them even more safe. They provide a fairly safe environment, as it relates to current health and safety minimum requirements, but fall short of providing the optimum or highest level of quality care needed. It is time to stop placing a dollar figure on the sanctity of life or using that life for political gain. I urge you to consider the person(s) that find themselves in such a predicament, as to consider abortion an option or choice, in terms of their value and the value of the life within, like you would your own daughters and grandchildren. I would hope , like any father, that IF my daughter were to ever find herself in that position that she would be receiving the best medical care available to date- and that the facility she went to would be held to the strictest and highest possible standards and that goes double for the physicians/medical staff/clinicians involved. if an owner/operator, like Planned Parenthood, chooses to do business in the Commonwealth of Virginia, their focus should be on the safety and care of human life and not solely on the huge profits. It is sad to consider that the health and safety standards at fast food restaurants in the mall are more strict and carry heftier fines than the abortion industry is being held to. Mark Melancon
