Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

It is long past time to stop the murder of unborn and nearly born infants and maiming of the mothers by allowing the practice of abortion to continue in unsafe conditions. It is shameful to ignore the facts. If the realities of abortion and the damage done to women were to be publicly reported instead of hidden, there would be no demand for the procedure in such squalid ways.Abortion does not protect women as advertised. It often maims or kills them and is still performed in slaughterhouse-type facilities with little care and unsanitary equipment. Abortion clinics are reported to be paid an average of over $300 for each abortion, so the profit motive is the primary reason for their existence. Their profits are enough to maintain health and safety standards; but instead are spent on advertising promised (but not delivered) relief from an unwanted pregnancy, or used for political advantage. Planned Parenthood, a $1 billion industry, continues to wage a political campaign. Why are they not spending money on improving medical standards" What else do they need the money for if not for womens health"By allowing their lawless behavior to continue without having to comply with medical standards of cleanliness and procedures, you are not performing your duties as the guardians of health which you are required to be.I request that you take action to enforce the laws and regulations which apply to abortion clinics as such laws require. That includes parental notification. Parents have a right to know facts which impact their lives and their daughters lives. There can be no excuse for lack of enforcement. Any such lack would be viewed as condoning barbaric conditions for the treatment of women and infants, born and unborn. A staggering price is being paid, not only by the individuals injured or killed by the barbarous practices, but by the whole of Virginia. These are modern times and the knowledge of safe and sanitary methods are well-known. There should be no place for slaughterhouse care of women and children in Virginia. The description of abortion as "one killed; one wounded" is mostly accurate. It is not an act of nature, as often quoted. It is an act of murder under primitive circumstances if it is not medically up to standards. Virginia is not a primitive culture with primitive methods. Please give deep consideration to the issue of enforcing compliance with existing health and safety standards. Dont fall prey to the mistaken belief that Planned Parenthood is doing it for the good of womens health. Health code violations prove otherwise. Womens health requires safe and sanitary medical treatment in safe and sanitary facilities, in accordance with the Board of Health regulations.Your function as the Board of Health is to provide management and protection of Virginias people. You are expected to uphold the standards established for their health and safety as your duty.It is imperative that you perform your function to uphold and maintain those standards. Failure to do so should not be an option. I hope that you will choose to govern as you were meant to do. The people of Virginia are relying on your faithfulness to those standards. Anything less would be dishonest and disrespectful to the people you are empowered to protect.Respectfully, Lee Marciniak
