Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

As a Registered Nurse I worked in labor and delivery at the Medical College of Virginia across the street from the Capital. At that time (1970s) abortions were done in the same suites as the deliveries. There were high standards of care. The suites were stocked and ready for any eventuality that could occur. Lives of the women were at risk. Abortion is an invasive procedure with risk of infection or excessive bleeding. There is every reason to hold abortion facilities to clear standards of care and to keep them accountable for the health and well being of these women who place themselves in the hands of these facilities, by doing routine inspections. Practitioners and those assisting should be appropriately credentialed. Please for the safety of our citizens continue to hold clinics to reasonable standards. Sandy Muller
