You Are Not Fooling Anyone

Everyone knows that the legislation and the resulting regulations from the Board of Health are a ploy to end access to abortion here in the great Commonwealth of Virginia. As witnessed over the past four and a half years, the members are appointed by politicians and so their decisions cannot help but be politically motivated.  Note that Virginia is actually a purple state -- neither too blue nor too red -- so basing public health policy on ideology rather than on medical evidence is dangerous. Not just dangerous to women's reproductive health, but dangerous in allowing the "state" to decide what is right for the individual. I keep in mind that Virginia's motto is Thus Always To Tyrants. I cannot stay quiet when my rights and privileges are at risk, or when anyone implies that my objection to these regulations means that I do not support protecting women's health and safety. To couch it otherwise is offensive and wicked. Reasoned and appropriate building and medical standards are already in place. There is no need to fix what is not broken, so these current regulations must be repealed and completely rewritten. If the goal is to truly protect (female) patients and practitioners then why do these new regulations target abortion providers only, while leaving plastic surgery centers and other out-patient clinics unaffected?  These TRAP requirements are obviously not about women's health or safety.  They are about controlling and limiting women's ability to get comprehensive reproductive care.

Thank you for allowing for pubic input.  I hope these comments are read and given the great consideration they deserve.
