Uphold Standards, Protect Women

Board of Health,

I urge you to set aside personal political inclinations and consider that a persons health should not be political. If the same kinds of violations occurred in hospitals and doctors offices that occur in abortion clinics, I tend to think people on all sides would be extremely distressed and call for reform; their first reaction would NOT be to cover up or ignore the violations in order to protect the system. There can be no doubt that abortion clinics are not holding themselves to the same standards of health found in doctors offices and hospitals:In just two years, inspections have exposed widespread health and safety violations including blood splattered exam tables and equipment, unsterilized needles, incomplete lifesaving equipment, violations of Virginia parental consent laws, an absence of reporting of possible cases of child abuse, and many more deficiencies. The health and safety standards up for debate simply ensure that abortion centers meet common sense standards of care to ensure womens health is paramount. Please do not repeal standards that ensure the basic humane treatment of another human being. Thank you for your consideration. Jacqueline Gottstein
