Let's be Honest.

These regulations are not about concern for women and their safety. If it were, all hospitals and outpatient clinics would have to abide by the same regulations. It is clear that this is, and has always been, about abortion.

Since integrity and honesty are important, let's be honest.

These regulations are going to close women's health centers across the state of Virginia- health centers that serve women of Virginia in ways that have little to do with abortion. In fact, abortion services are a very small part of the health care services that women receive. No, these regulations are targeted. And in the crusade against abortion, women suffer. In the crusade against abortion, women are merely collateral damage.

Yes, it is quite clear what these regulations are about. Let's be honest.

You can't have selective application of the law. But that is precisely what these TRAP laws do. This is manipulation of the law at its finest. It's a prime example of the government overreach that supporters of these regulations fight so hard against. So why this; why now? Why change precedent and refuse to grandfather in existing institutions? Why selectively apply these regulations to women's health centers and forget other outpatient clinics like those that provide oral and plastic surgery?

Let's be honest. The answer is clear, and the politics know no shame. This is specific. This is targeted.

If those who preach honesty and integrity manipulate the law, they are dishonest and their integrity ceases to exist. So let's be honest about the purpose and intent of these regulations.

Virginia is better than this. And neither I nor my daughter are collateral damage. Women are not collateral damage.

So, let's be honest.

We cannot and should not selectively apply the law. Either we apply the law to all outpatient centers, or to none. It is time to be honest. It is time to regain our legal integrity.  Virginia is better than this.
