Patient Safety

I am deeply concerned about the safety of patients having routine colonoscopies at outpatient clinics that have not met any of the standards for hospital buildings.  Ditto for oral surgeries, plastic surgeries, etc..

Besides appearing to be incredibly unfair to single out one type of clinic the clinical data points would indicate the other outpatient clinics have a higher risk for patients because of the use of anesthesia, age of some patients undergoing procedures, and various medical conditions of those same elderly patients, particularly for colonoscopies.  Not to mention the general risk factors of things like perforation for a colonoscopy.  I support this petition because if it is really about patient safety then we should be concerned about all patients.

However, if this is as it appears to be, about an Attorney General's end run around the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling, then I would urge you to oppose this petition and simultaneously overturn the nonsense regarding the women's health clinics.

You cannot have it both ways - where one set of outpatient clinics is held to a higher standard than its peers, even though the second set of clinics has inherently higher risks in their patient population and procedures.
