Many people who support abortion claim that women should be entitled to having a safe, responsible, medically sound abortion. Legality has not made this so. Too many abortion facilities do not meet anything like normal medical standards. These regulations are necessary to ensure that these standards are met. Otherwise legal abortion will continue to as much of a risk as it was when illegal.
