VA's proposed abortion clinic regulations

I am deepy opposed to the proposed regulations to abortion clinics in Virginia.  First, the agenda has not a thing to do with ensuring adequate medical care, as many facilities that perform much more dangerous procedures are not subject to regulations.  The agenda is to limit a woman's Contitutional right to terminate her pregnancy, and poltics have no place in medicine.  Second, abortion is only a minor percentage of services performed by these clinics that would be impacted and, in all probability closed.  Women's health and access to preventive care would be greatly compromised by closing down the facilties that provide such critical services.

It is no surprise that our state health Commissioner resigned over these regulations because it is not in the interest of public health to promote a political agenda at the expense of women's health.  There is no medical justification for these regulations, and they do not apply to other health care facilities--it's shameful and irresponsible for the Virginia Board of Health to close down health care facilities because we have an Attorney General who has chosed to attack women's reproductive health since he went into office.

The providers know, the policymakers know, the nation knows--these regulations are inappropriate and dangerous to the health of women throughout the Commonwealth.  I hope that you will do the right and just thing and rescind them.
