Dear Members of the Board of Health:

  It has come to my attention that one or more persons have argued against the proposed abortion regulations on the basis that abortion is safer than childbirth. Even if this were true, it would be irrelevant: just because one thing is safer than another does not mean it ought not to be regulated in the name of safety.

But I did want to call your attention to the following document which the American Center for Law and Justice filed in the U.S. Supreme Court: http://supreme.lp.findlaw.com/supreme_court/briefs/05-1382/05-1382.mer.ami.aclj.pdf. In this amicus brief the ACLJ rebuts the claim that abortion is safer than childbirth.
