Regarding the so-called "TRAP" regulation issues

I'm not sure how to address you so I'll offer a simple and friendly "Greetings."

A little background on me, I'm a pretty ordinary fellow, a sole proprietor of a very small business here in Virginia.  I try to stay somewhere near the middle as far as politics are concerned.  I try to stay informed.  I vote.

Abortion is a troubling topic for me.  I don't take either side on it.

The problem I'm having with this situation is that the governor and the attorney general have, as I understand it, rather blatently singled out one single set of business owners for regulations which will force them out of business.  I'm no lawyer but I don't get how that could stand up.  If the intent of the regulations is truly to safeguard the health of folks visiting these offices then where is the outrage concerning the offices of family practioners who take blood samples and give injections?  What about blood drives?  What about flu shot centers?  What about gynecology centers that don't do abortions?  What about tatoo parlors?  What about dentists?  What about eye doctors?  The list goes on.  Why not apply these regulations to all businesses in the Commonwealth which conduct activities which break the skin or involve mucous membranes?

It simply doesn't make sense to me on many levels.  Regardless of how one might feel about abortion this strikes me as being the wrong path to take.  Beyond the injustice, the nation is watching us.  Virginia does not need to be viewed as being an extremist state in either direction.  (Meaning far left nor far right in political parlance.)

I ask that anyone reading this please take a stance and reject these regulations.  I see nothing good coming from them.  I recognize the pressure to pass them and I'm sorry you are being put through that.

It strikes me as a dishonorable attempt.

Yours,

Ken Dubel
