Over 80 health and safety violations were found in many of the abortion clinics in Virginia.  Legal abortions were

established to prevent back alley abortions.  However if we don't make abortion clinics meet basic health standards

we are essentially having legal back alley abortions.  The abortion clinics must be held to the same standards 

as out patient surgery is held to.  These violoations include blood stained rooms, unsterilized equipment, untrained

staff.  And the abortion clinics that were allowed to continue provided they correct violations have not corrected these

violations.  This is the real war on women, allowing substandard clinics to operate that  just are truly hazardous to the

the health of the woman.  Regardless of your idealology, these health and safety standards are common sense

and very important.  Please continue to maintain these health and safety standards and be firm and

unbending with those that continue to violate these health standards.  These standards are basic reasonable

requests that these abortion clinics should already have in place.  The fact that so many violations have been found

emphasizes the absolute need for these standards and the proof that these clinics will get away with whatever they

can to make money at the expense of the women's health.  Defend and protect women by making these health and

safety standards for abortion centers permanant.
