Each locality should NOT set its own standards for its gifted programs.  As a sixteen year gifted resource teacher, I have had to continue to advocate for these children their right to a special program that fits their needs.  I am deeply concerned that many localities will eleminate these programs due to tightening of many school budgets.  It is imperative that we continue to have statewide supervision with people who adher to a philosophy that ALL children have the right to be challenged and supported.
