To Whom it may concern,
I am very disturbed to hear that female prisoners in Virginia are shackled while pregnant, and at the time of birth. I have never been a prisoner but I can imagine the demeaning feeling of being shackled along with the a sense of fear that such an incumbrance would threaten my or my baby's health. I ask for common sense here. The law that permits this unnecessary use of shackles on imprisoned women should be abolished.
