Amendments propose a barber curriculum consisting of a minimum of 1,100 clock hours (instead of the current 1,500) and 420 total performances (instead of the current 490). Barber school training has included the following services that are not covered by the legal definition of barbering: styling of the hair with a hand dryer, thermal waving, permanent waving with chemicals, wig care, and lightening or toning the hair.
