| Purpose of the meeting A public hearing to receive comments on a draft Virginia Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for the Ryder Enterprises wastewater treatment plant. Ryder Enterprises, LLC proposes to release treated sewage wastewater at a rate of 0.015 million gallons per day into Barn Branch, U.T. in Albemarle County in the Middle Rivanna/Buck Island Creek watershed. A watershed is the land area drained by a river and its incoming streams. The permit will limit the following pollutants to amounts that protect water quality: organic matter, solids, chlorine, bacteria, ammonia, dissolved oxygen, pH, and nutrients. Sludge from the treatment process will be hauled to Moores Creek Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility in Albemarle County where it will undergo further treatment. The Board accepts comments by hand-delivery, e-mail, fax or postal mail. All comments must include the name, address and telephone number of the person commenting and must be received by DEQ during the comment period. The Board also accepts written and oral comments at public hearings. To make a statement at a public hearing, write your name on a sign-up sheet available before the hearing. You may sign up only for yourself. The time allowed for each statement is set by the hearing officer. The public may review the draft permit and application at the DEQ office named below. An informational briefing will be held prior to the public hearing beginning at 6:30 p.m. | |
