Emergency Extension Request
(3821)
Action:
Mental Health Skill-building Services
(6725)
Stage:
Emergency/NOIRA

On 3/11/2015 the board requested that this emergency stage be extended until 10/9/2015.

Reason for Extension:
This emergency regulation is due to expire April 9, 2015. This extension is required in order for DMAS to continue enforcing the legislative mandate, as set out in 2012 Acts of the Assembly, Chapter 3, Items 307 LL and 307 RR (f) that 1) directed DMAS to make programmatic changes (prior authorization, utilization review and provider qualifications) in Community Mental Health Services (including Mental Health Skill-building Services) in order to ensure appropriate utilization and cost efficiency and 2) directed DMAS to implement a mandatory care coordination model for Behavioral Health. As is clear from the Town Hall entry for this project, there have been significant delays in the review of this package as details of the content of the regulatory requirements have been worked out between the Office of the Attorney General and the Department. This package is essential to curtailing loss of tax dollars through pervasive provider fraud and questionable practices in Mental Health Skill-bui

This emergency extension request was approved by the Governor's office on 3/31/2015.
