Statement against new regulation for existing health clinics that provide legal abortions.

I have been saddened by the politically based changes to our existing clinics that provide legal abortions. One, they have provided this service for many years with very few problems-no more than any other clinic providing surgical procedures at the same level of invasive medical care. It is clear that these changes are not medically needed, they are solely being pushed because some people have a hatred for abortions no matter the benefits these legal medical procudures provide.

Lega abortions are legal in this country because great harm was being caused by those needing abortions finding illegal ways of obtaining those services. These new regulations that will shut down these clinic will force women to lose these medically regulated and safe clinics and, therefore, seek alternative means which will be similar to those in use before abortion became legal in America. We lost many women to dirty techniques, illegal 'doctors' in back alleys.

This cannot be our future! We cannot return to what we know existed before. We have to continue to provide medically safe procedures for that which is legal in our nation. We have learned what the alternative gives us - lost lives, expensive emergency care, disabilities we all have to pay for day in and day out. We can't afford that now, we learned we couldn't afford that then.

Please, continue allowing existing clinics to be "grandfathered" as is normally the case for all other medical clinics. Do not force them to upgrade to these political regulatons or close-that would be a terrible step back 40 years! Totally unacceptable since we know the why and the what will come of it.

Thank you for your consideration of my comments.
