objections to TRAP regulations

There have been many objections publically expressed that the new regulations for women's health clinics that provide abortions have no basis in current medical science and I certainly agree.  These regulations are obviously designed to impose, albeit indirectly, certain highly conservative religious beliefs on women and prevent women from making their own decisions about their bodies and their reproductive health through burdensome and expensive, unscientific restrictions on women's health facilities.  If these  non-medical restrictions are placed on clinics now serving women, most of the clinics will have to close, leaving many women in Virginia with nowhere to go for all their reproductive health care.  This is what conservatives want to forward their personal religious agenda of preventing all legal birth control and all legal abortions; but these conservatives seem to have no regard for the rights women should have to make their own medical choices, in private with their own highly trained medical specialists.  And these conservatives seem to have no regard for the wide range of important services these clinics offer to women in Virginia.  The TRAP regulations are nothing but a cleverly devious end run around physicians, the true medical specialists, and previously established personal rights for women regarding their own reproductive health.  Please stand up for Virginia women and the specialty of obstetrics and gynecology and do not vote for the implementation of these medically unnecessary new regulations.       Miriam Roland Harrington, M.D.
