I strongly support common-sense sanitary and structural regulations for clinics providing abortions and other invasive procedures. These regulations will support patient safety and ensure that all clinics in the Commonwealth adhere to the same guidelines.
FOIA requests have revealed multiple instances of health inspectors finding unsanitary conditions and equipment at these facilities. Findings include dried blood on examination tables, failure of clinicians to observe proper sanitation and handwashing procedures, and many other instances of unsanitary conditions. If a hospital had these conditions at a health inspection, they'd be promptly fined and forced to temporarily cease operations while the violations were rectified. Uniform safety and sanitation guidelines will ensure patient safety and public health.
