Access to safe abortions

While the need for an abortion is regrettable and not simply a means of birth control, the availabillity of safe and legal abortions is essential to women's health.  I am 72 years old and remember when girls went to back alleys when they found themselves unable to complete a pregnancy.  I have thought we were in a more modern age without unreasonable barriers.  Now it seems that Virginia wants to take a step backwards with regualtions that in no way advance the health of the mother or the baby.  I urge you not to give in to the meddlesome politicians who want to insert their judgment for that of doctors and their patients.  If we think that we can take and give lives in war and for punishment, as it clear the country does, the slogan "right to life" rings a bit hollow.  I raised six children that I did not give birth to and who suffered endless torture as infants and toddlers because their were no options for their mothers.  Most children in their situation were not adipted or cared for properly.  In later life I was a school teacher in a men's prison and found out to the many other unwanted shildren.  In those cases it was often someone innocent who was killed by these men who had not been given proper care.

Let's stop this cycle and make sure that all children are wanted and valued.  It does not make sense to let us fetus survive and then abuse it all during its life.  That's what we are allowing now.
