A dangerous path

I'm very concerned with the precedent that could be set by these regulations as to the politicization of the Board of Health. The BOH was asked repeatedly to study if additional safety regulations were warranted for clinics performing abortions, but the medical data showed a comparable medical risk to other types of medicine not requiring hospital-grade regulations. Despite the refutation based on medical risk data, the BOH appears swayed by ideological and political argument. What next? Should politicians be able to force medically-unnecessary regulation against their ideological opponents? What happens if a sitting legislator decides they don't like opthamologists or podiatrists? Should they be able to Target those members of the medical community with regulation as a weapon? Political points should not be won by micromanaging our physicians. If the medical risk data showed that these regulations were - in fact - necessary, I would be arguing in favor. The fact remains that this is a misuse of power by legislators that is wholly removed from the real, factual medical risk data. This opens a door to using regulation as a weapon and to the targeting of medical professionals as a source of political gain for people who do not have the expertise to weigh in on the discussion. Please reject this nonsense before all medical professionals are unnecessarily politicized. Lord help US if they decide they don't like plastic surgeons or orthodontists... Don't cave to talking points.
