Description The Regulation Governing Vertical Ventilation Holes governs drilling, equipping and operating of vertical ventilation holes which are used to remove methane gas from underground coal mines. This regulation is being repealed due to extensive revisions in both text and format. A new regulation is being promulgated in its place.

Goals of Regulation 1. To establish guidelines that govern drilling, equipping, and operation of vertical ventilation holes which are used to remove methane gas from underground coal mines.

2. To establish safe practices when mining near or through vertical ventilation holes or gas wells.
